Empowering School Girl Athletes: My Journey to Stronger Knees

My Story

My name is Mihika Vaidya, and I am a high school junior at Central Bucks West High School in Doylestown, PA. I love playing soccer, but about two years ago, I faced a significant setback when I ruptured my ACL during a tournament. The road to recovery was long, lasting a year after surgery, but I am back on the field and determined to play better than ever.

Types of Knee Injuries

Understanding knee injuries is crucial for any athlete, especially school girls engaged in sports. Common types include ACL tears, meniscus tears, and patellar tendinitis. You’ll find a wealth of information on these injuries and links to detailed resources by clicking the image below.

Prevention is Key

Preventing knee injuries is essential for young athletes. Incorporating knee-strengthening exercises into your routine can significantly reduce the risk of injury. I encourage everyone to explore exercise links available through the image below.

In addition to exercises, maintaining good nutrition, choosing proper footwear, and understanding recovery from surgery are all crucial elements that contribute to strong knees.

This platform is dedicated to not only sharing my experience but also fostering a community where school girl athletes can thrive. Together, we can work towards building power knees and ensuring healthier sports lives.
